Port Hills Press was established in 2001 by Lois Tonkin, to publish resources about change, loss, and grief in New Zealand and Australia.
Lois Tonkin has worked as an educator, grief counsellor, and writer since 1988. Well known in New Zealand for her training workshops and seminars on grief related topics, and for counselling training. In 1996 she initiated the development of Skylight, New Zealand's only grief centre focussing on the needs of grieving children and teenagers. She continues to work as its National Advisor on Counselling and Education.
